People’s Liberation Project

The Oxford Dictionary defines “liberation” as the act or process of freeing somebody from something that limits their control over, or fulfillment within, their own life, typically imposed by political or military forces, a.k.a. “external” forces.

Here in the Red Tent⛺️, we understand that external liberation is only made possible by, and sustained through, conditions of INNER liberation - the profound state of freedom and self-integration that ultimately transcends all external circumstances.

True freedom always comes from within.

When we free ourselves, we are able to question limiting beliefs and attitudes that constrict our world view and let go of the unskillful behaviors that keeps us trapped in harmful cycles - the same cycles which make existing harmful social and political systems possible.

We are always practicing something, right? Investing toward something, living into something…Why not practice liberation on purpose? Together.

The People’s Liberation Project is a place for us to turn inward and reconnect with ourselves, together. We will practice in ways that GIVE us life, rather than rob us of it. And we do so with the momentum and support of a community.

We will meet on Zoom once a month on a Sunday for 90 minutes to practice liberation-oriented somatic experiencing together. No experience necessary. Bring your own somatic practice(s), or come and learn some new ones here.

People’s Liberation Project is a BIPOC-centering, queer-loving practice space, featuring BIPOC space holding in each session. We will do our best to embrace all abilities, and all perspectives here, as we practice alongside one another.

Next Call: Sunday March 30th @ 1pm CST

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.
